VDSL2 – leader in solutions for the last mile

Recently, a high demand for broadband access rate increase encourages operators to modernize their access networks.
FTTH (Fiber To The Home) technology is the most high-speed broadband access technology. It involves the optical fiber laying directly to the subscriber home. The disadvantage of this technology is its high cost. Therefore, operators tend to choose less expensive combined methods (where copper and optical cables are used) of access networks upgrading, which include FTTB (Fiber to the Building), FTTN (Fiber to the Node) and FTTC (Fiber to the Curb / Cabinet) technologies. However, along with the relative cheapness these technologies have a fundamental flaw – the low reliability of the combined access network copper segment.
The modernization of DSL telecommunications equipment to the last modification of VDSL2 allows to solve the problem of insufficient reliability of the access network copper segment. However, when it comes to Vectoring, DSL Bonding and Phantom Mode methods, the upgrade may be associated not only with the replacement of existing equipment with VDSL2 equipment, but also with changes in the network infrastructure.
Currently the Alcatel-Lucent (a key equipment supplier to AT&T, TDC Denmark, Belgacom and Turk Telecom), ADTRAN and Huawei corporations make a significant contribution to the growth of VDSL2 introduction into the access networks.
